General comment This dataset is part of a set of LCI datasets for CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation and storage) technologies developed in Korea. This dataset represents the production of 1 kg of synthetic natural gas (SNG, also called e-methane) by catalytic hydrogenation of captured CO2 (Sabatier reaction: CO2 + 4 H2 -> CH4 + 2 H2O). It is a partly terminated system: the supply chains of electricity, cooling water, chilled water, boiler feed water and wastewater treatment are included in aggregated form, while the hydrogen and CO2 inputs are left open and must be linked by the user. Low-pressure steam is co-produced; all burdens are assigned to SNG. SNG can be used in the existing natural gas grid and LNG infrastructure. The data are based on a process simulation of a 1,000 t/yr plant designed with reference to the Audi e-gas plant (Werlte, Germany). |
