Use advice for data set The dataset is partly terminated: before use, the CO2 and hydrogen inputs must be linked to supply datasets that fit the studied system. The accounting of the captured CO2 and of the CO2 released when formic acid is used must be defined consistently by the user. Results depend strongly on the hydrogen supply.

General comment This dataset is part of a set of LCI datasets for CCUS (carbon capture, utilisation and storage) technologies developed in Korea. Formic acid (92 wt%) is produced by hydrogenation of CO2 absorbed in an amine (N-methylpyrrolidine, NMPI) over a ruthenium catalyst, without separate solvent regeneration (reactive CO2 capture). It is a partly terminated system: CO2 and hydrogen are left open and must be linked by the user; the other supply chains are included in aggregated form. The data are based on a 10 kg/d pilot and a process simulation of a 78,077 t/yr plant (Kim et al., Joule 2024).
