Use advice for data set
The results apply to methanol (99.98 wt%) at the plant gate. The by-product methane carries the burden of the naphtha feedstock per kg; burdens were allocated by the PlasticsEurope Eco-profiles method. Electricity is a projected mix for 2038.

General comment
This dataset is part of a set of LCI datasets for low-carbon petrochemical technologies developed in Korea. Methanol (99.98 wt%) is produced from methane separated as a by-product in a naphtha cracking centre (NCC), instead of burning it as fuel. Methane is converted to syngas by combined steam methane reforming and autothermal reforming (SMR-ATR) with oxygen from an air separation unit, and syngas is converted to methanol in a Lurgi two-stage synthesis. The technology is relevant when the cracking furnaces are electrified or otherwise no longer fired with by-product methane (e.g. electrically heated or plasma cracking).
